There is still some public consultation going on about the inner city which is encouraging, but I can't figure out how these other 'fuglies' have been given consent! The Sagittarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05513045101496737031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6239241293494668004.post-69385515287349431202011-09-12T18:46:58.829+02:002011-09-12T18:46:58.829+02:00Ah you answered my q - Hastings...Ah you answered my q - Hastings...Dannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6239241293494668004.post-47863950388931842432011-09-12T18:45:33.355+02:002011-09-12T18:45:33.355+02:00Where was that photo taken? I can only agree that this new development doesn't sit well alongside the Georgian (presumably?) terraces.

That said -

In my view, the only thing to fix the housing issue is to make rental long-term, with better rights for tenants, as it is in much of Mainland Europe. And forget mortgages, relegate this whole nonsense because few are benefiting from it unless they intend to cash in their chips and downsize. It's not even financially feasible to "Buy to Let" - no bad thing - but the housing bubble has well and truly burst. The figures don't add up for buyer or even landlord.

So isn't tenancy/rental the biggest issue, and building accommodation or changing current laws to better allow or encourage this?

PS - BBC Moved a big part of their company up to Salford, regenerating a hitherto condemned part of Manchester.

PPS - not fully clear what you intend or propose, but I am fully in agreement that certain town centres are badly affected by municipal planning. Luton was fucked anyway - let it rot!Dannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6239241293494668004.post-77253008415502571272011-09-11T00:31:07.830+02:002011-09-11T00:31:07.830+02:00I think your vocalising the fears of many of us he...I think your vocalising the fears of many of us here in the UK with this. Listening to our 'great' leader expouse on this you'd think he was doing a great and statesmanlike favour instead of the kind of permamnent damage as you describe above.

A cynic would think he had interests in 'development'.

Still, I'm sure he needn't fear any affordable housing being built anywhere near his ancestral home in the near future....... One outstanding example was almost phallic and we confessed to having vertigo just looking up at it. And wonderful old Victorian housing was sacrificed for this particular "carbuncle" - great word.
XO
WWWWisewebwomanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15281689872840844191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6239241293494668004.post-13667771117895060572011-09-09T19:02:23.068+02:002011-09-09T19:02:23.068+02:00Hear, hear!Hear, hear!Marginaliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01175372147298306908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6239241293494668004.post-30979546299355972532011-09-09T09:04:21.237+02:002011-09-09T09:04:21.237+02:00People (our politicos) constantly link anti social...People (our politicos) constantly link anti social behaviour with certain types of environment and lack of access to "green" amenities and spaces... so why the hell do they want to reduce green spaces even more and erect more brick and concrete?Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02133900289384226725noreply@blogger.com
