Scouting For Squirrels

(CLICK ON POSTING TITLE TO RE-ACTIVATE SLIDE SHOW IF IT HAS STOPPED)

Taken by me yesterday (Britney the squirrel demanded soft focus). I'm going through my nature phase at the moment. All poets have to have one, it's the law! (click on View All Images to see witty captions accompanying 'poetry-in-motion')

Check out the yellow teeth in the close-up! Needs to get her Hollywood smile sorted before she poses for me again. Actually she was the cheekiest squirrel I'd ever come across. Completely fearless, and aside from confusing part of my finger and bits of the camera with nuts, she was fun. (I think it was a 'she' but I'm not well versed on these things, ahem!)

Thats a great set of photos. Especially given the lack of a tripod, fast lens blah blah - wow! I've never seen a quirrel as close up as that - was this your 50 quid samsung?

I'm jealous he he - where was this creature?

Finally - the genus Sciurus cannot claim the title of "wombat", EVER. This is strictly reserved for people like me ok? (in-joke)...

Just realised you were in The Jephs. You were a mere hundred yards from my place of employment! Those photos could have been a damn sight scarier!

Yeah this was my £50 Samsung Dan. And since it doesn't focus too close, I have to entice the wildlife to magnify itself! Hopefully one day disposable income will permit something better, tho' I doubt Britney the squirrel would have waited five minutes for me to assemble a whole tripod - a very spontaneous creature indeed!

Hi Steve - yes I was in your neck of the woods as I often am when visiting my friend close by in Coventry. I absolutely love Jephson Gardens - I believe it has even won awards as one of the best parks in UK.

Indeed it has, Laura, and we've won Britain In Bloom countless times too. [In emotionally quivering voice] I was born and bred in Leamington Spa you know...

I just love the choice of name for that squirrel! We don't have them over here in New Zealand but I had a mate (as in friend) once who named her raucous parrot Madonna!

Aha - an alternative solution to the grey squirrel cull - send a load to New Zealand! Thanks Saggitarian - you may shortly know the delights of being mugged for nuts in your local park!
