Passionate about Having it Large!

Having overtaken a lorry on the ringroad the other day emblazoned with the legend; 'Robinsons - Passionate About Dry Cleaning!' in some state of disbelief, I've decided that it was right.

Henceforth I shall throw myself into this life experience business in a whole new full-on, up for it, no holds barred way. No more caution for me. Hah! I laugh at caution! No, not only am I going to obey the dictates to be 'fanatical about film' and 'passionate' about a certain chain's food, I'm going to become loopy about loans, hysterical about holidays, ecstatic about energy, orgasmic about insurance, whoopy doo about work! Doollally about debt. I'm going to believe that a breakfast cereal which tastes like rubber can change my life and that a new iPod mobile can make me look like the happening babe on the excessive packaging it comes in. And I'm going to embrace my drycleaning and every other sex-substitute daily.

To swim against this tide any longer is futile and I've lost my water wings. You win, hypemeisters. Advertising works.

Just bear in mind that if your product doesn't make me successful, stunning, deliriously happy, sexy and the funkiest being on the planet/your packaging, I will sue!

Even on Viagra, I'd find it pretty damned hard to be orgasmic about insurance. Even though the industry is full of onanists...!

I can give you an "AMEN" to that!

I believe they are shortly to be dispensing free Viagra with every new policy Steve!

You should also take serious note of all these
'100 Albums You MUST Listen To Before You Croak' and '1000 Movies You HAVE To Watch Or Else You're A Loser' lists.

It'd be such a shame to waste what little time we have...

Afraid I've only watched '100 List Programmes You Must Watch Before You're Crossed Out' Rol. And I do question who compiles all these list programmes with half the major stars of stage and screen missing and Britney Spears in their place! But that's always been my downfall.

I can remember when passion was hot and all-consuming, something that drove people to change the world, smash icons and - yes - perhaps create a bigger market for the dry cleaning industry! Now it's a concept that has all the meaning wrung out of it by the promotions industries. By the same token - when I was 17 I found inspiration in Thunderclap Newman's 'Something In The Air'. Now I can't hear it without thinking about a phone company.

Actually, the packaging for the iPod Touch (and I believe the iPhone) is not excessive at all, to be a little pedantic. It doesn't even come with a CD to install. It is just a small box, headphones, a cable and the thing itself, the box being barely larger than the actual device. I was quite impressed by how LITTLE packaging was involved, in other words....

But yes, your point is generally right...!
